Digital technology has transformed the way we live and work. digital Marketing provides a framework with which you can map your personal and professional development. Keeping in the mind I, Amrendra Kumar, worked as a Warehouse Manager having a very handsome salary package but left my job.
Currently, I am working as a digital marketer where I find sky demands and a lack of skilled professionals in this field as well.

If you are trying to get a job in digital marketing, stop the mistakes that you had done in past and still continuously you are doing.
Think differently from others so you can get your dream jobs.
After creating a resume, what are you doing?
- Uploading on different job portals.
- Speak with career consultants and contractors so they can send your resume to potential employers.
- Enhance your resume by doing certifications and if you are not getting jobs, again you are thinking to do some different certifications.
- Send your resume to all the personal contact who may refer them to a potential employer.
Is it the right way to find your dream job or do you want to get a job only?
Firstly you have to think that are you looking for your dream job or only jobs?
If you want to get a dream job, think differently from others. First and foremost think like a businessman.
Suppose if anybody is launching a smartphone, he is not able to do the marketing of the products. Then what they will do? Either they will sell on olx.com or other sites. How bad it is for the businessman who launched it.
In your job everything is revolved only around your resume and HR is getting 1000 resumes or more in a month.
Can you amazing that what HR is doing with such a type of resume? HR is looking only at some resumes and the rest of them are thrown in the dustbin.
In the Current Situation, and everybody is following the same process to get the job.
Resumes and Emails are the tools for the job.
Why persons are doing this? Because they are not updated with the latest trend. They know only to create the resume and send it to the Gmail of HR.
So, now delete the entire resume and let us learn how to get the job in Digital Marketing.
CHAPTER 2- CHANGING THE PERSPECTIVE OF “JOBS” & “HIRING”
Understanding that why the traditional method of hiring is not working in modern days.
If you want to get your dream job irrespective of job, you have to change your mindset completely different perspective of your jobs and employment.
So, lets me take you on a ride to the past. Over 1000 Years ago there was neither any job nor any employment.
Everyone has to be work as an entrepreneur or self-employed. Think about fishermen and woodcutters. There were no companies and there was no HR Department.
Even 100 years ago my grandfather did not call himself an employee or a businessman. He had a bunch of cows and extended family who tended the cows.
So it really doesn’t matter if it is a job or business. In the end, the customer pays you either for service or for the products.
Thinking in this perspective is very important to get digital Jobs.
Back to the present when you think about the job what comes to your mind? A job which is having some salary, some teams, a boss, work and an office.
But can you tell yourself when jobs are created?
As business exists then only jobs came in existence.
When do businesses exist? When a customer is there.
Suppose if the customer will not purchase from the company, an employer will be fired from that company and the company will go under.

Only in the past 100 years, due to technology and globalization, the companies are going big and hire thousands of employees.
As they are having only the basics principles that “still you are providing the service to the company”.
You are the product and the employer is the Customer
The company pays you a monthly subscription fee. You know it as a salary. The company is doing the business transactions from which they are paying office rent, software fees that they are using an employee fee.
WHY HR DEPARTMENT EXIST?
In many startup companies, the company does not have an HR department. Once the company grows they hire HR. The main function of HR is Employee satisfaction, Health, Office Space, Payroll, and other formalities.
Do you ever think that in which case HR hires the employee? HR hires the employee in the case of disasters. HR is narrow-minded and they are working on the job descriptions to match the job skills.
If HR matched the skills, they hire the employee while in the case of adverse condition they are telling that “I will contact you later”.
WHEN DOES THE HR DEPARTMENT HIRE?
HR hires in disaster conditions. Suppose the online companies have to hire field boys then what they will do? Either the CEO will hire the field boy or HR will hire the same.
If a company has to hire a Digital marketing manager, can you assume that the CEO or Managing Director will hire or HR will hire?
In the first situation when the company has to hire a field boy then surely HR will hire while in the second case where the company has to required Digital Marketing Manager then the Managing Director or CEO of the company will hire.
So, the conclusion is that HR is having low-end jobs and low-salary jobs.
So, kill the resume and break up with HR.
CHAPTER 3- HOW TO SELL YOURSELF IN THE MARKET
You are the product (employee) that your employers (Customer) purchase
If you know digital marketing, you can search for your dream job. If you do not know the digital market, you can learn from various sources. Apply your knowledge to your own project. Go for your dream job.
Even you are not having the deft knowledge of digital marketing still you can find your dream job because you can do your marketing.
Generally, Employers hire people for their ability to bring results,s not for the knowledge. Anyone can find the knowledge from Google in 5 minutes.
If you will create a blog and can bring traffic to your website, it will be your proof that you are having the ability to increase the business.
Whenever someone attends the interview and they are telling that he knows the SEO, Social media, Email marketing & content marketing, then the interviewer is asking about the proof then you can show your blog and you will get the job.
How do get in touch with key decision-makers?
Firstly, you should know about the conversion ratio. Suppose if you are looking for marriage and then you are looking for 100 girls which are so difficult, your conversion ratio will be 1%. In some cases, it will be 10% or maybe 100%.
So, it might be possible that your conversion ratio will be 1% but as you will get experience your conversion ratio will increase.
Now there is no need to contact HR. Just find the key decision-maker.
The key decision of the company may be the following.
- Head of digital marketing.
- VP of the Digital Marketing.
- VP of marketing.
- Head of sales and Marketing.
- Digital Marketing Managers.
You can easily find out them on LinkedIn. These will be your target Marketers.
Reach them via various methods.
- LinkedIn Message
- In event-related to digital marketing
- In-person at their office.
- Postal mail
Now you know about your target marketer and you know about how to reach them. Next, let’s talk about how to pitch them.
Of course, you can send them a message that I am X and want a job in your company. But it will be the same as that you met a girl and you will say that “Will you marry me”? In that scenario, your conversion ratio can be 1%.
You first have to build a strong relationship with them and show them how they can be benefitted from you.
They want someone to do digital marketing for them.
Provide Value even before you get hired.
Now you know about the target market and how to contact them, the next step is to make them pay attention to you.
Before that, they will pay will money they have to pay attention.
Suppose you are getting lots of marketing calls or ads but have you ever purchased all the products? Firstly you have to pay attention to that products then you are investing money in that.
So, let’s say you send two Emails with the following subject line.
- Looking for a job in digital marketing in your company.
- How your website “abc.com” can get more traffic.
So, the first mail you had to send can be deleted without opening.
But the second email will create interest in someone who is looking to hire you in the future.
Let’s say that you are good at SEO, and you did some research on your company websites. Don’t tell me all the information. Give the only trailer to them. Talk about what you did in micro research and how you can help them.
Now they have got attention. Give your contact no so they can call you back. If they really want to hire a person like you and improve their website surely they will contact you.
There can be some more person who is having more skilled than you but they are creating a resume and sending it to HR and waiting for the call from HR will not hire.
You were hired because you had done the marketing of yourself in a new and smarter way than him.
CHAPTER 4- GOING BEYOND DIGITAL MARKETING JOBS
The a huge opportunity for digital marketing experts beyond jobs.
After getting jobs you can earn and learn also. But the world does not end here.
During the weekend and free time, you can do your own projects. Now you are earning money from your jobs you can invest more to grow your projects.
Even some speakers are earning 6000 rs a day for speaking. You can write your own blog, you can work as a freelancer and get clients for the consulting.
The opportunities are unlimited. But the world will recognize you when you will market yourself and be able to create a brand.
I assure you that these guidelines help you a lot to change your mindsets about getting the jobs.
The ideas discussed here are not limited to digital marketing jobs. You can get a job in any field by making potential employers pays attention to you and marketing yourself.
